Ready for 2014: New Library Resources: In Transition

New Library Catalog, New Devices to Check Out, New Online Videos, New Databases, New Interfaces and More!

Under Construction

With anything major like a new catalog, parts of the Library web pages are now in transition.  Look at the right to see our laundry list to understand that changes may be happening to some of the very web pages you know, so it is VERY important to make sure your links from your Canvas pages and any DIRECTIONS on how to use the library home page, library catalog and databases are UP TO DATE.  If unsure, please contact a librarian.

Laundry List of Changes

New Catalog (New Rules, New Transitions)

  1. New interface, meaning NEW directions in process of finding materials.
  2. Catalog searches a SAMPLE of articles and MOST (soon ALL) E-Books, not JUST physical items.
  3. VHS items discontinued/de-selected (DVD or online video formats only)
  4. Students, staff and faculty MUST have an ID card to check-out materials.
  5. Limiters on the left column to narrow a search.
  6. Must create a new password for a library catalog account (the one for databases does NOT transfer over as it used to)
  7. COMPLETED.  Module 3 of Searchpath is currently INACTIVE (currently being updated)
  8. Interactive Tutorials for the catalog are on hold for a year (due to upcoming interface changes) and there should be NO links to either: Search the Library Catalog OR How to Place a Hold in the Library Catalog.

DID YOU KNOW?  SPREAD THE WORD TO THE STUDENTS

  1. Students can check out laptops, pads, flip cameras and more from the A-V Center?
  2. Students can sign-up to a week in advance with our online study room reservation page?
  3. The Library provides Noodle Tools, a citation generation software that helps students think carefully what they are citing?
  4. What databases the Library has for research 24/7?
  5. That the library classroom will soon be expanded to 44 computers, accomodating larger classes?
  6. That the Library is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, meaning yes evening orientations are available again (until starting time 7 p.m.)?
  7. A periodicals/reading area in the center/back of the Library?
