Ready for 2014: New Library Resources: New Library Home Page

New Library Catalog, New Devices to Check Out, New Online Videos, New Databases, New Interfaces and More!

Three Search Boxes

The Library Home Page has now been revised to contain three search boxes.  They search three different areas, so here are what they are.

The biggest one is the search box to our new Library catalog, which searches all of the Library's print resources, at least 85% of our E-books (will soon be 100%), and searches a good range of articles from databases, some of which are available full-text.  The tabs allow the student to limit a search before they begin (book, article, or video) and then after clicking Go, the student is in the Library catalog.

The second one is the EBSCOhost searchbox.  This searches all of our EBSCOhost databases, all guaranteeing 100% full-text magazine, journal, newspaper article or E-book.  It doesn't search other databases like the catalog, but will provide everything that's in full-text from the student's search terms.

The third one, which actually was already there, searches across all current library research guides (at least for the current semester).

Meanwhile links to students wanting to get started, look up library resources, search across librarian selected web resources, and of course, the links to sign up for a library orientation request or submit a book on reserve are there as always.

Ebook Copies of Course Books

Another new feature is that the Library has made a point to purchase Ebooks of "non-textbooks" for courses, whenever possible.  The page of such books is available under the selection Course Reserve Books Online.  If you have a book that's not an expensive edition-oriented textbook for your course and wonder if we can get it online, please contact the Library.  Any supplemental books, extra credit reading, suggested reading titles for an assignment you give to your students, definitely!  Please let us know by contacting Norman Buchwald or Jim Matthews.
