The LIBRARY IS PHYSICALLY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  All services are being offered ONLINE or REMOTE.

Our FALL 2020 HOURS listed below are the times that a Chabot College LIBRARIAN can CHAT with you & Chabot College Library STAFF Services are available (Note: Chat reference itself is still available 24/7!)

Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Sunday CLOSED

Exceptions: 9/5-7 (Labor Day), 11/3 (Election Day/FLEX day hours are only 4:30-8:00), 11/13 (Veterans Day) and 11/25-29th (Thanksgiving).

Definition:
"An informative speech allows you to teach your audience something new. It can be something totally new to your audience, OR you can expand the knowledge base they current hold on a topic by providing new information about the topic."

 

What you should learn:

  • Become a better consumer of information
    • Identify the types of supporting material (the guts of your speech)
    • Find and evaluate the usefulness of supporting material
    • Learn how to evaluate web sites
  • Cite your sources
    • Oral citations
    • In-text citations
    • Full citation on a reference sheet
