Borrowing Privileges
Who may check out Chabot Library Materials?
Currently enrolled students - Students must obtain their student identification card and present it when checking out materials or conducting any other library business.
Currently enrolled Las Positas College Students - Las Positas students must provide a current student identification card to check out materials.
Faculty, Staff, & Administrators - Faculty, staff, and administrators are encouraged to present their college identification card when checking out library materials. If such card is not readily available, the library staff can still check out materials provided the faculty/staff/administrator is found in the college database system.
Members of the community are welcome to use the resources in the Library. We are not able to check out our materials or allow computer use to non-students.

All items must be returned to the library to avoid paying lost item fees. The campus has several library book drops where items can be returned anytime. AV laptops and other equipment items must be returned in-person to the AV circulation desk.
You can request a renewal for your items by phone, email or in-person. If there is a hold placed on the item you have currently checked out and you have maxed out of your renewal limit, you must return the item.
Renewals can also be done online through your library account. Simply click on the "Sign-in" link from our catalog and sign-in with your W# and pin to access your library account. Step by step instructions available under the "Your Library Account" tab.
Chabot College Library and Las Positas College Library share one online catalog database. Items are easily requested and transferred between the two libraries. If you need to request a book from the Las Positas Library, ask at the Circulation Desk. Book shipments arrive two to three days after requested. Once book shipments are received, a staff member will contact you via email or by telephone for pick-up. Limited Interlibrary loans can also be made from other libraries. Please inquire at the Reference Desk for interlibrary loan requests.
Fines over $5.00 result in a "block" being placed on a student's record in Admissions and Records. Fines can only be paid in person at the Chabot College Library during open hours. Cash or checks accepted.
Patrons must pay the entire cost for each lost book. Upon repayment, the patron will be issued a receipt. If the item is found within ONE YEAR, the patron will receive a refund for the amount of the item. A $10 processing fee will be applied to lost AV equipment items.
Patrons who damage materials beyond the capability of the library to repair the item are subject to the same fees as for lost books. Patrons may opt to replace the book in lieu of the replacement fee.
