1. If unsure, search an "All Subjects" database such as Articles Plus (if you also want Ebooks to appear AND articles) or Academic Search Complete.
2. If it is a hot topic subject of which students need to find opposing viewpoints, select a Pro/Con database.
3. If the assignment focuses on ethnicity, diversity and gender one of the Diversity databases such as Ethnic Diversity Source or GenderWatch would be good.
4. If the assignment comes from a specific discipline (such as Sociology or Psychology or Philosophy), select the Subject database that matches the discipline.
5. In some databases, students can search more than one database at the same time. In EBSCO the "Choose Databases" link on the right of the search form and then select individual databases to cross search. If in Articles Plus, select Databases from the limiter on the left of the student's search results.
