Option A: Research Presentation
In groups of 2-4 or alone, students will be assigned a topic related to class that they will be tasked to investigate thoroughly, using factual information, and evidence from class sources and a variety of other credible sources found through the library's database. Students will present their research findings in class via 5-7 min. PPT or video format. A research proposal and bibliography will also be due. We will cover research strategies, appropriate sources, and citation methods via a library orientation.
Option B: Oral History Interview Presentation
Students will interview either a family member or community member who is a person of color and at least one generation older than them (i.e. a parents, grandparents, or someone who is at least as old as one’s parents). Students will present and summarize their lives, accomplishments, early life experience. And, they must analyze their lives through an ethnic studies lens by comparing/contrasting with course material. An oral history proposal will also be due.
