SUMMER 2020

Digital Storytelling

Digital Storytelling

Digital storytelling is the process of telling stories in a multimedia platform while foregrounding meaning making (Lambert, 2010).

Talking Points

  • Discuss communities’ foodways and sharing of recipes as intergenerational knowledge and cultural practices.
  • Center communities’ foodways as funds of knowledge (Gonzalez, Moll, & Amanti, 2006) and a source of community cultural wealth (Yosso, 2005).

Guiding Questions

  • What cultural values and practices are embedded in a community’s foodways and their stories? Also, what do their stories reveal about their ways of knowing and being, especially for immigrant communities resettled in a new country?
  • How can their stories inform culturally sustaining and revitalizing pedagogies?
